Default Guild Wars crash ("serious error")

When I load Guild Wars and I log in, I click on a character. The game loads the area to 100%, then the game closes. A few seconds later, the game opens back up with the area loaded and the serious error message pops up as well. I can't click on anything in the game except the error box. This happened after the Wintersday update, so is it me or Guild Wars at fault?

You don't say what sort of a graphics card you have, but it's possible that it can't handle some of the graphics. Is it Intel Integrated Graphics? Have you ever had problems loading other areas?

ANet did several "updates" lately - maybe there was a glitch - does it work now?

Default still doesn't work

Here are my specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz
4 gb RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT (512 MB)
Windows 7 Professional (64-bit)

I can run GW on max everything; I never had a problem with GW until now (even with Windows 7). I tried running the game again right now, it still doesn't work.

This happened to me the other day 2, if you have any GW mods in your GW folder you need to delete them, because the update won't allow them to run with GW. I had whisper mod where gw flashed when someone whispered you when it was minimized, i deleted it and now everything works fine.

Ah thank you! I also had the whisper mod. I did what you said and now GW works perfectly! Thanks!
